2009 Summer School Information

Hours of Attendance: 8:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.

Session Dates

  • Tuesday, May 26 - Friday, May 29 continuing
  • Monday, June 1 - Friday, June 5

REQUIRED ATTENDANCE if...

  • You have an attendance rate of less than 75%,
  • You have an attendance rate of less than 90% and are required to attend per attendance review committee,
  • You are in grade 3, 5, 8, or Exit Level and fail a test required for promotion or graduation,*
  • You are in grade 4, 6, 7, 9, or 10 who fail more than one TAKS test in 2008-09,
  • You failed math, reading, or had an overall average less than 70% for the year, (Note: High School Credit Recovery: One credit may be recovered in the summer.)
  • You have shown a noticeable loss of academic progress over past summers - regardless of whether or not you have met passing and/or attendance standards.

TAKS Re-Testing Information - Summer 2009

Students who have not passed the Grade 3, 5, or 8 TAKS Reading test are also required to attend a test review session on June 26 and to retest on July 1 in order to have successfully completed Summer School.

Students who have not passed the Grades 5, or 8 TAKS Mathematics test are also required to attend a test review session on June 29 and to retest on June 30 in order to have successfully completed Summer School.

Exit retests are as follows: July 14 for ELA, July 15 for Math, July 16 for Science, and July 17 for Social Studies. Students are required to attend a review session for each test they need to retake. Exit Review session times will be scheduled closer to test dates and students will be notified of required attendance.

Optional Attendance

Students enrolled in PLISD on 5/22/09, who qualify as "At-Risk" may attend summer school subject to space availability.

Information

Breakfast & Lunch will be provided. Transportation to & from school with limited stops will be provided for students. Students may need to walk a short distance to join others waiting to ride.
